About Us

The Organic For Africa business is situated in the picturesque farming town of Greytown which is 75 kilometers from Pietermaritzburg and 150 kms from Durban.

Being situated in Greytown which is the epicentre of a large timber industry Platt Plant services, the holding company, has access to large sustainable quantities of Pine bark for composting for growing mediums.

Although the business was only registered 2 years ago it is part of Platt Plant Services, which was started in 1986 and it was at the same time that the development of Pine bark as a growing medium was explored.

Research and development

The research and development of our pinebark composted growing mediums has taken place over many years but more concentrated over the last 5 year period and these products are now receiving a favourable response from growers who are looking for a premium organic product available in large and sustainable quantities.
Feedback from the soil scientists confirm that these products are of very high quality. The products are also yielding exciting results in the trials that we have been doing over the past 2 years.

Sustainable stock piles

Current stock piles exceed 8000 m³ and as the process of composting is a continous process the supply is maintained relative to demand.
